Struck by a car in 1990, "Crash," was proof that box turtles could survive with extensively damaged bodies. As you can see the shell was too comprised to release her back into her raccoon dominated world. As an education animal she did very well showing children how dangerous a world humans have created for these animals. Unfortunately she died in 2009 of an indeterminate cause. Her life wasn't what it was supposed to be, but we made it a useful and happy one. |
