| Although it's more common name is the Helmeted Turtle, this animal is also known as the Crocodile Turtle because it's behavior will sometimes get confused with it's more well known distant relative. The Crocodile turtle is the only turtle known to attack prey in groups! This usually happens when the population density of the turtles is high. Multiple turtles will attack, drag down, kill and pull apart water birds, fish, snakes, or other turtle species. From the bank, to the human eye, it appears as a commotion often mistaken for a crocodile attack. |
