  CORAL REEF - GREAT SWAMP
Habitat comparison School Assembly Program

 coral reef, snakes-n-scalesgreat swamp, snakes-n-scales

From your NJ backyard to the Australian coast, this pairing is going to extremes, but there are odd, unlooked for, similarities in the habits of some of the animals. For instance the snapping turtle walks over land to get to new ponds and lakes to look for fresh prey, so the bamboo shark hunts through different sections of reef. All animals of both habitats have senses keenly adapted to deal with their particular problems and needs.

This program includes an audience touching session with the shark and the use of our new “magna-video camera,” (see photo inset) that will display for all to see, the smallest details of some of the smaller animals.

Possible Animals List

Bamboo shark, urchin, sea star (starfish), yellow tang, clownfish, snowflake moray eel, box turtle, hognose snake, black rat snake, snapping turtle, painted turtle, red-eared slider turtle
